About Janice
Detroiter Janice Fialka is a master teacher in showing us how to glide on the dance floor of Disability. For all of us, whether we have a disability or support someone in navigating theirs, there are missteps, trips and clumsy moves but she sets the beat, offers a tempo and helps us hold each other tight for the adventure of our lifetime. An experienced and highly accredited social worker, Janice learned her adept 'dance' skills through raising her son, Micah, whose intellectual disability challenged her to find her stride and show others theirs. She travels the country coaching parents and professionals how to embrace each other in successful working relationships on behalf of children with disabilities. Her latest book, co-authored with two other experts, is "Parents and Professionals Partnering for Children with Disabilities: A Dance that Matters."
