Members of YOUTH VOICE launched Walk with ME-Michigan Educationrelay walk from Detroit to Lansing. Students and allies will start their walk from Monday April 21st at 9am starting at 17277 Lahser Road, Detroit, MI and end on Monday April 23rd at 9am in Lansing at the Michigan State Capitol. Allies and youth are each walking 5 miles. The goal of the walk is to symbolize unity that together we can ask legislatures to modify zero tolerance to reserve the 180-day expulsion for serious offenses, stop unjust suspensions for truancy and uniform violations, support schools to create alternatives to suspensions, and provide behavioral assessments for youth with needs. This is a statewide effort and we are asking for your support!

This benefit for MCHR’s 2014 Freedom Tour will feature musicians Julie Beutel, Chris Buhalis and Jere Stormer.  Displayed will be submissions to the “Passin It On Youth Contest” for young people 14-18 who submit a piece (poetry, song, poster, rap, etc) that illustrates one of Pete Seeger’s lyrics and makes it new for today’s  youth.
